Man, I really haven't said much interesting lately, have I? You know, outside of my regular ranting about something or other. Like I've mentioned time and time again, lucky me has been forced to buckle down because of school and work. I'm working roughly three or four days a week, plus going to school from Monday-Friday amongst being raped by projects. I feel lame for not really doing any updates on this thing, so lemme see what I can come up with.
The work side of things has gotten rather interesting. My good friend Lin is the manager of our department so work is less cumbersome. She's a great manager and is really concerned at her employees needs.. which is refreshing considering how things have been. Scheduling has gotten a liiiiitttlllllle bit less painful. I'm still at about 20 hrs a week, but it's better than the near 30 I was at before. Kaila was at 33 hrs last week and she's a full time college student, too! Gah! And here's the BIG news. The general manager, the head of the store, was fired. And this is like.. the greatest thing since.. anything. I can't believe someone so incompetent could make it to a management position. Plus he was the kinda person who assumed being a tyrant was the proper way to lead. So how did this come about? Well, there's a few theories I've cooked up (hey, I don't live in American so I have nothing more interesting to make conspiracy theories about ;D ). The popular theory is that they finally took our opinions in the annual ViewPoint survey and decided to listen to practically all of us saying we couldn't stand the manager. I kinda doubt it, though, because they haven't ever actually listened to us before. My other theory involves an incident that happened a couple weeks ago. Scott, the douche manager, unlocked a laptop for a new kid in Computers because he was dealing with a couple of sales. Just assuming the poor kid was ready for the sale, even though he was dealing with a few customers, Scott left the laptop unattended and it ended up being stolen. Unable to live up to his own mistake, he put all the blame on the kid and because he was still working under the probationary period.. he fired him. Scott was the one in the wrong and he goes and blames the new guy. Just awful. Ameen, a fellow employee, was totally outraged. He was so upset at the situation that he brought it up to his relative, Moe Amerie, who kinda happens to be one of the highest up in the Future Shop company. I have a feeling that this was the icing ontop of the "Scott Is Toast" cake of wonder. And the glass of milk along with this confection of joy is that apparently Joe Amerie or Matt Young might be our new GM. And I love them both!
On the school side of things, there's less to report. The coolest thing so far is that I'm learning how to use manual SLR cameras. They're so interesting! Yes, in 2009 we're using film cameras. They're so.. complicated. Light meters, shutter speed, f/stops.. AHHHHHH. And it terrifies me to not be able to see the final product until developing the film. Plus, the camera I'm using is professional SLR from like 1984 that my Dad's had for as long as I can remember.. and even the manual expects me to know everything already. Through much guess and check and using my digital SLR as reference.. I managed. I'll be sure to scan some of my better photos. I'm really proud of them. =^_^= Aside from Image Structure and Meaning (which is claiming to not be a photography class despite every project being photography based ) I think my fave class would be 2-D Design. The teacher is really awesome, too. He's nice, funny, sarcastic.. but at the same time, he makes it very clear what his expectations are, what you're to do and how you're to do it. Much better than my stupid Drawing Foundations class. At the end of the day we're all left scratching our heads at how to do a project, and often even what the hell is even assigned. Aww.. heck, I can't even really say what my fave class is. I love them all aside from Drawing Foundations. I've been an Advanced Placement Arts student for all my school life so sitting through classes about line quality makes me want to hang myself. Like srsly. And they won't allow me to drop the class despite showing more than sufficient proof through my portfolio that this class is a waste of my tiimmeee.
Now hmmm. I guess all that's really left to talk about is the good ole personal life. For the most part it's the same old, same old. My evil uncle was diagnosed with diabetes and all I can say is, "Karma is a bitch, suckaaaa'." He decides that he's well enough to not take any of his medication so I can only hope that it kills him. And it's so awful that I don't even think that possibility is, well, awful. I think it's tragic to ever have to hate your own flesh and blood. For the most part he's become freakishly pleasant after the diagnoses, but when his levels go low, he turns into a grouchy fucker. He actually told me that I'm not allowed to take a shower after 9 PM. Why? He goes to bed early and the shower wakes him up. I call bull. He's often up after 9 PM, PLUS when my uncle Terry comes over after Jim has gone to bed.. Jim will wake up, come out and say hello and then go back to bed after like 20 min. And my shower is ruining his life? Please. After a long day, I will take a goddamn shower! Especially when my work is so dusty and gross. T_T And I don't even get off shift until 9:30 or 10 so wtf. I've been heavily thinking on moving into residence at school.. but gah, it's expensive and I'm already terrified of debt. So having a loan for school scares me.. and then needing more money for residence? I don't wanna be paying back my loan for the rest of my days. xD I guess I'll look into it. It's about 6,000 a year.. I just feel like it'd be such a waste considering I live in the same city as the school, but I'm wondering how much longer I can live at home before I turn to homicide to answer my problems LOL.
Umm, I think that's about all I have to say. ;D Yes.. -looks at wall of text-. That is all. >_>
