An "lol" Does Not Serve As A "No Offense".

t No, nothing in particular sparked this rant.. Oddly enough, I thought of it while half asleep last night. Yeah, I dunno. I guess I have strange epiphanies ( or is there no "ies" and just an "s"? ) before I fall asleep.

Anyways. I hate an "lol" at the end of something derogatory about as much as I hate the god awful "no offense". I'm sure all of you have seen it happen before. Just like many people like to say things such as, "I think that pair of pants makes your ass look fat.. no offense.", it seems that a lot of people try to hide their insult behind an "lol". Of course some people ARE actually joking.. but it's pretty blatant when people aren't.

Example:

Girl 1: i dunno why shed sayy i was a whoree!1!1
Girl 2: maybee cuz u r a huge slut lol
Girl 1: lol funny u say that since ur the biggest bimbo i kno lol!!
Girl 2: ..lol
Girl 1: lol

Seriously, it goes something like that. I actually see people throwing an lol at the end of anything even remotely negative as if it's supposed to take the edge off.

Girl 1: I totally disagree with your statement.
Girl 2: It was just my opinion.. lol
Girl 1: And the fact that I disagree is MY opinion lol

Do you see what I mean?! Try looking at that without the lol's. It's seem a little more harsh. You know, I've even seen people toss a ":P" or a ":)" in things as opposed to the "lol".

People are so fucked up.. lol.

Or do I mean... no offense? :P
