What A Sick And Sad World.

I really do wish it shocked me to hear about people being cornered for reasons far beyond their control. A person's religion, skin tone, sexual orientation or nationality are absolutely no reason for persecution. There are no excuses for these acts of violence. I know people say that these attackers are "ignorant and uneducated" but so what? I don't know how to speak Mandarin, I haven't studied any form of religion, I've never been to Mexico. That doesn't mean that I feel it's alright to hate what I don't understand, and least of all resort to hate when challenged. Sadly, people are beaten, people are killed and attacked daily for numerous ridiculous and irrational reasons. It's scares me and it angers me to hear all these stories about the violence and the hate.. but I'm not surprised, at all. These incidents aren't isolated and it disgusts me that hearing of this shit is a norm.

Come on people, this is 2009, why are we still fighting eachother? This world is a complete mess, it's in shambles in many ways and we're too busy hating to even think to come together and make a change. Obama ran a campaign based on hope, and based off of change- and not hope for any group in particular, hope for everyone. It's been shown that his message was embraced world wide.. so where has it all gone? I'm not a hippie, and I don't feel that everyone has to love everyone individually.. but I can't stand such a violent world. What if your brother, your mother, your father, or even a friend came face to face with violence because of the way they looked?

We're all someone's child, cousin, or friend.. Open your eyes.
